FAQ’s about Heat:
Tryouts
will be used for to evaluate all players in an age group to place
equally skilled players together on a team. The top 9-10 players
(according to position) will be on the 1st team, the next 9-10 players
will be on the 2nd team, and so on…the exception would be when a family
requests to participate on a club team, according to schedule/price,
rather than skill level. For example, the player makes the #1 team based
on skill, but family chooses the #3 team schedule. (This only works when
requesting to play on a lower ranked team, and not the other way around)
Teams practice 2 days/week; at either The Long Center or Athletic
House. Practice schedules will either be Mondays/Wednesdays or
Tuesdays/Thursdays. Teams will either practice 5:30-7:30 or 7:30-9:30.
Practices begin December 5th and 6th.
Club dues are paid on the 1st day of each month; either via
mailed check to Athletic House, cash or check hand delivered to AH, or
via credit card.
Club dues do not include uniforms, but uniforms tend to last 2 or 3
seasons. Players that have uniforms from this past 2011 club season will
not need to purchase new jerseys in 2012.
Players on 14 & younger teams will travel and stay with their parents at
tournaments outside of the Tampa Bay area. The only teams that have
hotels included in their club dues are the 15-18-1 teams. Pinellas Heat
will recommend a team hotel for each tournament outside of the Tampa Bay
area.
Airfare is additional for players, coaches, and parents. Pinellas Heat
will book the airfare for players and coaches, and then inform the
families of the cost of the airfare for their child and their share of
the coach airfare.
Any team that participates in a “Q” tournament has the chance of
qualifying for the Girl’s Junior National Championships, June 28-July 7,
in Columbus, OH; the additional tournament costs are not included in the
regular club season dues. Each age group will compete for 4 days at the
JNC; players and coaches will arrive the day before the start of
competition.
New this year, a Lead Coach
will be assigned to a group of teams to assist the coaches, players and
parents. The lead coach will assist in structuring practices, drills and
be actively involved with coaching all players. This will allow for
fundamental development at each level and allow consistent progress for
all teams to progress each year. |
